In the DOT return-to-duty process, the follow-up evaluation is more than just a final check-in—it’s the official green light that determines whether an employee can safely return to safety-sensitive duties. The follow-up evaluation is the SAP’s clinical determination of whether the employee has successfully complied with the treatment or education recommendations made during the initial evaluation.
